Unusually Good Food Co collects un-wanted fruit from orchards that would be left to rot or end up in a landfill to help address food insecurity.
By dehydrating left over fruit we are able to create Apple Bites, a delicious and healthy snack that helps feed those who might not have enough.
Unusually Good Food Co ran its pilot project in the fall of 2018 where we began picking left over apples from orchards that would have been left to rot. We then partnered with the North Okanagan Valley Gleaners where we developed a unique process to create our healthy snacks.
Through our partnership with the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club as well as several local schools we are able to deliver Apple Bites to kids all over the valley. Our partnership with the Gleaners also allows us to send Apple Bites overseas to North Korea and Guatemala.

To help facilitate the expenses and growth of this project, we have started making and selling apple juice! We use a small portion of the apples we pick to make the juice while the majority of our apples are still turned into Apple Bites for the kids. This allows us to expand our reach and help even more people in our community.
