Rising

Rising is a social enterprise to educate today’s youth about prevalent issues we face in society. Through a train-the-trainer approach, we will instruct teachers within School District 23 how to educate their students about prevalent issues. Our first teaching resource module educates on homelessness. This was created in collaboration with educators and the non-profit organization Journey Home. The module incorporates different provocations and adaptable activities to achieve this. It is customizable for elementary, middle, and high-school students. The desired outcomes include prevention of future youth homelessness, fostering empathy, and developing new perspectives.

We hope to remove the stigma towards those experiencing homelessness and encourage social responsibility. We will work with students and their teachers to find ways they can help improve the lives of those in our community. Rising will expand over time through the creation and implementation of new modules, each one connected to a non-profit organization, to build awareness of other issues. Together, we will educate today’s youth and empower them to create meaningful change in their communities.
