Accelerate Youth is a program designed to provide students who are enrolled in the alternative school system with a different kind of education that is applicable and relevant to their individual needs.
Lessons focus on practical life skills that students often have not been exposed to, such as cooking, goal-setting, budgeting, taxes, and basic financial literacy. Accelerate Youth is currently taught every week in three different locations throughout the Okanagan Valley.
Through applied teaching methods in one-on-one and small group formats, the students are exposed to practical life skills to fuel their motivation to complete their high school education and start setting goals for their future. The lesson plans are developed and taught by Enactus volunteers - by students, for students. Accelerate Youth is taught through interactive sessions with the students to encourage participation, foster trust, and build rapport. And, by attending Accelerate Youth sessions, students receive credits that are then put towards the completion of their high school diploma
